Bacon Bak kwa

Bacon Bakkwa is another favourite CNY snack created by Bakkwa stores. This is a very clever creation and very expensive too. Bacon alone is quite expensive and turning bacon into bakkwa is more expensive. This is a very addictive snack and very fattening too. The procedure is the same as making Bakkwa but cooking time is much shorter. Enjoying my Bacon Bakkwa now.

Bacon Bakkwa


300 gms bacon, cut in half
6 garlics, peeled and smashed
40 gms sugar
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp light soya sauce
1/4 tsp dark soya sauce
1/2 tbsp shao xing wine
4 tbsp water


Put all the marinade ingredients in a small pot and bring to a boil to dissolve the sugar.
Leave aside to cool down.
When cool add into the bacon and mix to combine. Leave the mixture in the fridge overnight.
Next day bring mixture out to thaw.
Preheat oven at 200° and arrange the bacon on the lined tray.
Bake the bacon for 15 minutes.
Transfer the baked bacon on a tray and bake for another 5 - 10 mins till crispy.
Cool before storing.
